Before God, before the people who walk with me, and before any stranger who may one day read these words, I, Shaun Michael Samaroo, make this declaration. I do not publish a prediction. I make a vow.
My life shall answer one governing call: follow Jesus Christ, serve the Great Commission, author Nightmares of Knowledge, and cultivate a Qualped way of life that turns resources toward common mission rather than private accumulation.
I place these words in public so memory cannot soften them. When comfort argues for possession, I shall return to stewardship. When movement turns into drift, I shall return to the three-country rhythm. When enterprise crowds the page, I shall return to the novel. When ambition threatens fellowship, I shall return to agape. When a human institution claims too much, I shall return to Christ.
This declaration governs me first. I shall never use my vow as a chain around another person.
The governing rule
The Seven Vows
- I vow stewardship without personal accumulation. I shall hold the basic tools required for the Qualped life under stewardship and leadership use, never as trophies of private wealth.
- I vow a three-country rhythm. Each year I shall live four months in the United States, four months in Guyana, and four months in Canada.
- I vow the cultivation of Qualped Homes. I shall grow common dwellings across nations for Club members who commit to the Great Commission, common work, hospitality, authorship, and mission.
- I vow my deepest authored labour to Nightmares of Knowledge. I shall guard the novel from institutional noise and return to its pages as the central work of my vocation.
- I vow agape within a founding fellowship. I shall cultivate three to seven core companions and honour a future helpmate, a woman of God, through mutual love, freedom, covenant, friendship, and shared vocation.
- I vow disciplined formation under Christ. I shall follow Jesus, learn from Tolstoy, the Schaeffers, St. Ignatius and the Jesuit tradition, and study practical futurists Elon Musk, Ray Kurzweil, Bill Gates, and Warren Buffett for lessons in long-horizon human work.
- I vow an economy of mission and succession. Qualped Club contributions shall sustain the Order, while transparent stewardship and deliberate formation shall carry leadership from generation to generation.
Nothing for private accumulation
I shall hold tools, not treasure.
I renounce the pursuit of personal accumulation. I shall claim no house, land, vehicle, company asset, investment, luxury, or store of wealth for private status or private inheritance. I shall retain only lawful stewardship and leadership use of the basic tools that let me write, travel, publish, communicate, build simsbooks, work with QwaiAI, and fulfill the Qualped mission.
Where law assigns title, duty, tax, or fiduciary responsibility, I shall honour that law and pursue structures that direct use toward mission, accountability, and care rather than private enrichment.
This vow binds my consumption and accumulation. I shall not compel a spouse, family member, Club member, guest, worker, or companion to surrender property or economic freedom because I chose this rule.
Possession shall not measure my life. Stewardship shall carry my work.
Three countries, one pilgrimage
I shall live across the triangle.
Each year I shall live four months in the United States, four months in Guyana, and four months in Canada. I shall treat no country as an escape from the others. Each place shall carry work, relationships, prayer, writing, service, and accountability.
I shall conduct this rhythm lawfully, honouring the civic, immigration, tax, and corporate duties that govern my movement and work. Geography shall widen responsibility rather than weaken roots.
United States. Guyana. Canada. Four months each. One life under one commission.
A global household
I shall cultivate Qualped Homes.
I shall cultivate Qualped Homes in countries around the world: common dwellings for members of the Qualped Club who commit to the Great Commission and the shared Rule of the Qualped Order.
Prayer, table, study, writing, practical work, hospitality, rest, creation, and mission shall give each Home its rhythm. Simsbooks and QwaiAI shall help companions author, publish, teach, and carry meaningful work across the global village.
Every Home shall protect conscience, privacy, family bonds, lawful exit, financial transparency, and personal safety. No Home shall turn hospitality into control. No leader shall turn common life into private dominion.
I shall cultivate houses that send people into service, not monuments that carry my name.
The work at the centre
I shall author Nightmares of Knowledge.
Nightmares of Knowledge shall occupy the centre of my authored vocation. I shall guard daily and seasonal hours for the novel. I shall not sacrifice its pages to meetings, operations, fundraising, travel, technology, or the noise that gathers around institutions.
Qualped, simsbooks, and QwaiAI shall serve the authored life; they shall not consume it. I shall give the novel the years, solitude, revision, discipline, and courage that serious fiction demands.
When enterprise crowds the page, I shall return to the manuscript.
The founding fellowship
I shall cultivate agape.
I shall cultivate agape among a founding circle of three to seven core companions who live the Qualped mission. We shall share prayer, meals, honest correction, practical labour, authorship, mission, and care. I shall grant neither title nor money the power to replace friendship.
Within this life, I shall seek and honour a helpmate, a woman of God, with whom mutual love, covenant, truth, friendship, and shared vocation can grow. I shall never treat her as an appointment inside my program. Her conscience, calling, gifts, boundaries, and freedom shall carry full dignity before God.
Agape shall govern proximity. Love shall outlast usefulness.
Formation, inheritance, future
I shall follow Christ and learn from builders of futures.
Jesus Christ shall supply the governing pattern for my life: prayer, truth, simplicity, movement, table fellowship, service, courage, compassion, surrender, and mission. The disciples remind me that the Gospel travelled through companions who shared roads, meals, labour, danger, prayer, and witness.
Footsteps I choose
I shall follow in the footsteps of Leo Tolstoy through Christian simplicity, serious moral inquiry, and resistance to private accumulation. I shall learn from Francis and Edith Schaeffer through the L'Abri household pattern of hospitality, study, practical work, community, and serious questions. I shall learn from the Order of the Holy Cross through ordered common life, prayer, hospitality, work, and discipline.
The Ignatian pattern
I shall learn from St. Ignatius of Loyola and the companions who founded the Society of Jesus. I admire Jesuit formation, discernment, examination of conscience, intellectual labour, mobility for mission, education, service, disciplined community, and vows that place vocation above appetite.
I believe every human should practice the central disciplines I admire in Jesuit life. I except lifelong celibacy from that universal call. If every human chose lifelong celibacy, human reproduction would stop. Marriage, family, children, kinship, and intergenerational care carry humanity forward. I therefore adapt the pattern for lay Qualped life: stewardship rather than accumulation, fidelity and agape in intimate love, disciplined discernment, lifelong formation, practical service, and mission under God.
The practical futurists
I count Elon Musk, Ray Kurzweil, Bill Gates, and Warren Buffett among the great practical futurists of mankind whose lives and work I study. I seek to emulate selected elements of their worldview, mindset, and lifestyle: long horizons, systems thinking, relentless study, technological courage, disciplined capital, institution building, sustained work, and willingness to direct immense resources toward problems that cross generations.
I study how their work tries to shape humanity's future through technology, capital, institutions, and long-range thought. I seek a mindset that asks what humanity could build, solve, discover, prevent, and hand to the future. I read the strongest dimension of such work as service to human possibility rather than a script for personal glory. I claim no access to another person's private motives.
I make no blanket claim that these four men share my rejection of personal property. Their public choices concerning wealth, giving, property, and investment differ. I take the principle I seek from their work: resources as instruments rather than identity. Then I make my own vow: I shall reject personal accumulation and direct the resources entrusted to my leadership toward mission.
Christ shall judge every inheritance. I shall copy no institution wholesale. Scripture, conscience, truth, love, lawful duty, and lived fruit shall test each practice.
I follow Christ. I learn from saints, writers, builders, technologists, investors, and communities. I surrender final authority to no founder, fortune, institution, or technology.
The economy and the generations
I shall build an economy that serves the mission.
Membership contributions through the Qualped Club shall sustain Qualped Homes, the common work of the Qualped Order, publishing, technology, administration, travel, care, and mission. The Club shall select members with care.
Resourcefulness shall matter, but money alone shall never qualify a person. The Club shall look for full alignment with the values of the Order, demonstrated capacity to contribute skills or resources, willingness to build rather than merely consume community, respect for the Great Commission, and readiness to prepare another generation for stewardship.
No contribution shall purchase spiritual standing, control over conscience, privileged access to God, or immunity from accountability. I shall require clear accounts, independent oversight, conflict disclosures, lawful structures, and stewardship that can survive my absence.
I shall build succession from the first day. Leaders shall form leaders. Each generation shall hand tools, memory, discipline, responsibility, and mission to the next.
The Club shall fund shared mission. Money shall never price the Gospel. The mission shall pass beyond my name.
The Vow
I place my name beneath these words.
Before God and Man, I publish this declaration as a covenant governing my own life. I ask my companions to hold me to it with truth, courage, mercy, and prayer.
I shall not pretend perfect adherence. When I depart from this rule, I shall name the departure, seek correction, repair harm, and return to faithful practice.
I do not vow outcomes that God alone controls. I vow the direction of my labour, the discipline of my possessions, the geography of my life, the fellowship I cultivate, the novel I author, and the mission I serve.
God owns the future. I shall answer with stewardship.
Public note. This document records a personal covenant and public philosophy. Separate legal instruments govern property title, tax, immigration, corporate duties, residential arrangements, safeguarding, employment, membership contributions, and succession. This declaration compels no surrender of another person's property, conscience, family rights, or lawful freedom.
