Screens shrink the story. Walls give it room. SR1 stands the size of a pocket paperback, throws a living simsbook onto any surface, and scales the page from a bedside sketch to a community wall. Bluetooth opens the door, the phone lends the internet, and the whole qualped library walks into the room.

Texas Instruments sells the DLP LightCrafter projection engine for developers at 99 dollars, with a 1080p module that pairs with Raspberry Pi out of the box.23

Proof exists

Sony threw a 23 to 80 inch touch-ready Android screen onto tables and walls in 2017, using infrared light and a 60 fps camera.67

the object

A6 sizes the shell, the format of the pocket paperback: 105 by 148 millimetres, 32 millimetres deep, a target 460 grams in the hand. The spine wears deep navy anodize with a gold reading lamp of a lens. The fore-edge stacks forty aluminium fins, coated warm vellum, cooling the laser while reading as pages. Heat leaves the way pages turn.

one hand, one control

One gold diamond crowns the spine: press turns the page, roll sets the size, hold calls QwaiAI. A magnetic diamond foot tilts the beam from wall to ceiling. Sapphire covers the lens; hardened glass covers the sensors.

a body built like a book

Anodized aluminium forms the spine and covers. The fin stack conducts laser heat straight to open air, so the fan stays whisper-small and the bedside stays quiet. Drop the reader and the diamond foot takes the bruise.

Materials tell the same story the software tells: a book made of light deserves a body made like a book. Every surface below carries a job, a finish, and a reason.

Extruded aluminium takes a deep navy hard-anodize, shrugs scratches, and grounds the radios' antenna windows.

Architecture stacks the way a signature folds: window, light, sense, think, power, breathe. Texas Instruments' 0.23-inch DLP micromirror class supplies the proven 1080p heart, and TI even calls its developer engine a board "the size of a sticky note."2 Everything below the window lists as a design target for the pilot build.

projection that scales

Distance sets the size; the reader keeps the focus. A time-of-flight array maps the surface sixty times a second, drives the voice-coil lens, and squares the keystone before the eye notices. Move the lantern and the page follows. Throw runs one-to-one: one metre of air makes one metre of page.

honest light

700 ISO lumens carries a 50-inch page through ordinary daylight, and the 148-inch wall asks the room for dusk. The ambient sensor reads the sun, lifts contrast, warms the paper tone at night, and saves the battery by matching brightness to the moment.

every surface, mapped

IBM Research proved the principle a generation early with its steerable Everywhere Displays projector: computer vision means "any surface in an environment can be turned into an interactive interface."89 SR1 shrinks that room-sized rig into a paperback.

bluetooth opens the door

Bluetooth handles the handshake; the page decides the pipe. Three lanes carry the library, and the reader picks the lightest lane that serves the moment.

lane B stands on standards

The Internet Engineering Task Force wrote the road rules already: RFC 7668 adapts 6LoWPAN so IPv6 packets travel over Bluetooth Low Energy through the Internet Protocol Support Profile, negotiating a 1280-octet path over L2CAP.4 RFC 9159 extends the same profile into mesh, so tomorrow one phone feeds a classroom of readers.5

honest bandwidth

Bluetooth LE tops out near two megabits on the 2M physical layer, so text pages, notes, and Life Plan sync ride lane B while motion pictures take the Wi-Fi road. Storage shelves a hundred simsbooks for the rooms the internet forgets.

how it reads with you

Touch turns the page. Infrared light washes the wall, the 60 fps camera watches the fingertips, and taps land like taps on glass, the trick Sony shipped at 23 inches in 2017.67 Voice carries the rest: QwaiAI listens on-device for the wake word and gives every page a voice.

four postures

Bedside throws a 15-inch page onto the ceiling for reading flat on the pillow. Desk turns the wall into a 49-inch Life Plan canvas that fingers can drag. Family night scales Future Stars TalkShow across the living-room wall. Classroom hands Kids' QwaiAI a wall every child can reach.

the reading ring

A gold ring accessory pairs over BLE, sits on a finger, and turns pages from across the room with one press. Grandparents get the same power a remote gives, minus the forty buttons.

Prototypes earn belief; schedules earn prototypes. Three phases move SR1 from bench to pilot line, and Durham Region supplies the bench while Ontario, Canada supplies the line.
