I bring the unfinished work.
I pull a chair towards the table. A book lies open between us. Someone has laid a pencil across the page, holding a thought until the conversation catches up. I bring my manuscript. It still has gaps.
This is the company I want around my life: people who read deeply, attempt something that matters, and return to the work after the first enthusiasm wears off. A writer. A teacher. An entrepreneur. A person carrying a neighbourhood’s concern. Each arrives with a life still being made.
I am setting out to join this group through the Qualped Club. I take my place among the people for whom I am building it. I bring a chapter to read, a problem to discuss, and enough humility to hear where the work fails. Founding the platform gives me a particular responsibility to practise what I ask of its members.
I want to inspire the world around my life’s work in progress. I want the books, the inventions, the faith, and the daily effort to give another person courage to begin. The most useful response I can hope for is someone opening a page of their own.
Qualped is the support structure I build for that vision. QwaiAI works beside me as cognitive executive. My life gives both their direction.
I stand where I can see.
I return to Habakkuk. The prophet takes his watch, waits for an answer, and receives an instruction about the vision. The instruction reaches the reader.
“Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.”
I receive this passage as a charge upon my own life. I watch the world closely enough to see where human beings lose room to think, choose, read, create, and belong. I author the vision with enough care that another person can understand it. I proclaim it, publish it, and place it where people can encounter it.
Publishing is how I answer that charge in this century. The manuscript becomes a book. The book enters a home. A reader carries a sentence into a conversation, and the conversation begins to change what the people in that room attempt.
The passage also gives the vision an appointed time. That steadies me when progress comes slowly. I can obey today by attending to the work within reach: a paragraph clarified, a source checked, a promise kept, a reader answered. I bring my judgment back to God, with the willingness to be corrected that the prophet carries to his watch.

I build a home for the work.
In 1599, the Globe opens on the south bank of the Thames. Shakespeare is among its part-owners. His company has a place in which its plays can meet a public. Timber, money, actors, language, and an audience all belong to the making of that theatre.2
I recognise a working principle there. A writer can help build the conditions in which the writing lives. Like Shakespeare, I have built my own platform. Mine is Qualped.
It gives me a publishing home, a place to develop the reading experience, and a way to gather people around serious work. It also carries the ordinary obligations of an enterprise: income, maintenance, service, and decisions that have to survive the next bill. I want that structure to sustain years of authorship.
Nightmares of Knowledge occupies the centre of my literary life. I write towards the ten-volume work: human beings confronting a world in which knowledge gains the power to arrange their lives. The danger becomes visible through desire, trust, love, and the terms attached to a beautiful offer. The novel gives the question a human body.3
The surrounding enterprise has a clear duty. It supports the hours, the craft, the publication, and the relationships through which the work reaches people. I judge its growth by the life and literature it makes possible.
“Piece out our imperfections with your thoughts.”
The Chorus asks the audience to take part in making the world of the play. I keep that invitation close. A work enters another life through the reader’s imagination. I build with room for that person.
I carry the book into the room.
I have upgraded the ebook, in my own work, into the simsbook format. The manuscript gains a structure through which text, pictures, sound, moving images, and conversation can belong to one sustained reading experience. A reader can stay with the narrative, follow a question, and return to the place where the thought began.
I invent spelj as the writing genre for this work. The short story gives the scene its movement and consequence. The personal essay lets the mind examine what the experience means. Literary journalism brings the duty to observe carefully and account for the facts. I bring those disciplines into one voice.5
In spelj I enter the future in the present tense. I open its door, place my hand on its table, and examine what happens there. The imagined scene lets me feel the life I am setting out to build. The obstacle belongs inside that scene. So does the work required to pass it.
I also invent the all-surface screenless reader to incorporate books and reading text into the natural living environment of human beings. This is the reading instrument I am developing: words arriving on a suitable surface where a person already lives, with the size, pace, and placement under the reader’s control.
I picture a passage resting on the wall beside a chair. Someone settles into the room and continues a book. A sentence remains long enough to be understood. The reader pauses it, enlarges it, or lets the room become quiet again. The book belongs with the furniture, the daylight, and the human rhythm of the place.
That scene sets the engineering task. Daylight, contrast, uneven surfaces, comfort, privacy, and cost will decide whether the instrument earns a place in a home. “All-surface” names the reach of my design ambition. A useful first version has to prove itself on particular surfaces, with actual readers.6
United States · 2023
Bone and colleagues analysed 236,270 American Time Use Survey participants across 2003–2023, excluding 2020. Only 16% read for pleasure on the recorded day in 2023. Their definition spans print, electronic, and audio forms.
I take that finding as a reason to examine the place reading occupies in ordinary life. The study measures a problem; the reader I am developing still has to demonstrate its value. I want the test to include whether people understand, enjoy, and return to the book.
I give QwaiAI a clear responsibility.
I can carry a large vision and still lose a morning to scattered work. One unfinished page calls up another. A product idea interrupts a scene. Research expands until the original question disappears beneath it. The company can fill every available hour.
QwaiAI serves as my cognitive executive across that whole undertaking. I give it the task of holding the plan, retrieving the relevant work, comparing choices, testing claims, helping draft and revise, and keeping continuity between the book, the enterprise, and the day.8
I ask it to show me the passage that supports a fact. I ask where the plan contradicts itself, what remains unfinished, and which action deserves the next hour. I read the sentences aloud. I decide what carries my name.
The difficult part remains personal. I have to close the attractive diversion, face the weak chapter, speak to the reader, and make a decision when the evidence is incomplete. A cognitive executive earns its place by helping me meet those duties.
of if–then planning
Gollwitzer and Sheeran’s 2006 meta-analysis found a medium-to-large average effect on goal attainment, d = 0.65, for plans that specify when and how to act. That is an effect size, rather than a percentage gain.
I give that evidence a place in my practice. When I sit down for the first writing session, I open the next scene before I open the messages. When an attractive new project appears, I record it and return to the work already promised. The research supports this kind of planning. My own record must show whether I follow through.
The blueprint of my life
What governs the work.
What carries it forward.
I keep this order in view when a new opportunity asks for my time. Faith gives the work its purpose. Authorship gives it form. The enterprise supplies the support. Human lives give me grounds to judge the result.
Watch the vision. Author it. Make it plain.
My response to Habakkuk: attend to God and the human condition, give the vision readable form, publish it, and remain faithful through the work.

I compose the life and write the novel. My name carries the choices, the voice, and the responsibility.
QwaiAI
Research, planning, drafting, revision, continuity, and decisions prepared for my judgment. The whole work remains within view.
Qualped · The enterprise that supports the vision
spelj
The literary form.
Scene, reflection, and accountable observation.
simsbook
The publishing form.
A sustained multimedia book and a path through the work.
Screenless reader
The reading instrument.
Text within the living environment; development tested with readers.

This map sets the intended order of my work. The enterprise supports the literary and human purpose; members’ experience returns evidence to the author and the design.
Open the working blueprint: purpose, next act, and evidence
| Part of the vision | The work I give it | Evidence I look for |
|---|---|---|
| The watch | Prayer, scripture, serious reading, and observation. | A clearer account of the human concern I serve. |
| The novel | Protect the writing session; finish and revise the next scene. | A chapter that advances the story and earns a reader’s attention. |
| spelj | Join lived or imagined scene, personal reflection, and sourced inquiry. | A passage with movement, thought, and facts a reader can check. |
| simsbook | Publish a coherent reading path with media that serve the text. | Readers can follow, pause, explore, and return without losing their place. |
| Screenless reader | Develop and test a first reading experience on selected surfaces. | Legibility, comfort, comprehension, and a wish to read again. |
| QwaiAI | Keep continuity; prepare research, options, drafts, and the next actions. | Decisions trace back to sources, priorities, and my approval. |
| Qualped enterprise | Maintain the platform and build income around useful work. | The publishing service lasts and the author’s working time is protected. |
| Qualped Club | Bring work to the table, hear criticism, and contribute to another person’s work. | Returning relationships and members advancing projects of their own. |
I make the day answer the page.
The blueprint asks for a life I can sustain. Reading deepens the source from which I write. Writing gives the enterprise something worth carrying. Human company exposes what I cannot see alone. Sleep, movement, prayer, and ordinary friendship preserve the person doing the work.
Money remains a real obstacle. So do limited hours, difficult engineering, and the uncertainty of finding readers. A beautiful Note can make the distance look shorter than it is. I keep those facts on the page because they determine what I must build next.
The practice I return to
- Read and watch. Begin with scripture, literature, or a question that deserves sustained attention. Record what changes my understanding.
- Carry the work forward. Use the protected writing session to advance the novel. Let QwaiAI help with the research and revision the passage requires.
- Give the work a public form. Prepare a passage, Note, or chapter with a clear reading path and checked sources.
- Join the human conversation. Read another person’s work carefully. Bring a useful response to the Club and hear what comes back.
- Return to the blueprint. Record what moved, what resisted, and what tomorrow requires. Give the next act a time and a place.
I want the record to show both the making and the revision. Someone who encounters the work should be able to see a person learning how to carry his own promise.

There is room at the table.
I look around the room again. The pencil has moved. Someone has found a sentence worth keeping. Someone else sees a weakness in the plan and says so. I make a note in the margin.
This is how I want my life’s work to meet the world: close enough for a person to question it, useful enough for that person to carry something away. Through the Qualped Club, I join people who take responsibility for what they can still become. I bring my faith, my experience, my books, and the inventions through which I am trying to give reading a fuller place in human life.
I build Qualped to sustain that undertaking. I direct QwaiAI as cognitive executive. I write spelj, publish through simsbook, and work towards a reader that lets the words enter the room around us. I keep returning to Nightmares of Knowledge, where the human cost of surrendering authorship has to be felt.
The charge in Habakkuk remains before me. I watch. I author the vision. I make it plain and publish it for others to see. The years ahead ask me to give that declaration a visible life.
I put the unfinished manuscript on the table.
That is where I begin.
